Nearing the bottom of the access tunnel. Most of it is unlined, with short lined sections at each end. This time, the power station lights are on:

Looking back up the access tunnel - the doorway on the left leads to the toilet. The blue portapotty is there as the toilet, along with the rest of the station, was being refurbished on the occasion of this visit:

Another view back up the access tunnel - this slightly foreshortened view gives a good impression of the steepness of the tunnel. There's a lot of junk and scaffolding around - at the time this picture was taken, in 2002, a major refurbishment was just starting:
